Our visit to Kapchagay

In 2018 we were invited to make another visit to Kazakhstan, this time to the town of Kapchаgai which is 24 km. away from Almaty, on the occasion of a special event for young people. The Catholic parish in that town provides a home for about 50 vulnerable children whose parents cannot look after them, where it supports every aspect of those children’s religious, personal and cultural development. They also provide training for parenthood for young couples.

On Saturday 3rd November, we gave presentations about the road to happiness and the value of life to about 75 children, including some from different parts of the region. On Sunday 4th, we gave a short introductory lecture about NFP to some young couples; and on Monday 5th, we gave presentations both to a group of 58 students at a local secondary school and to a group of some 20 college students.

We were much encouraged by the interest which our hosts showed in all of our presentations: and we hope we can develop further contacts in Kazakhstan in the future.
